About Michael Spry

I am Michael Spry, a British-born filmmaker and photographer working independently on narrative feature-length and short films as well as music videos and commercials. I live and work in London, but work nationally and across the world. The first thing you will notice about me is my height.

I began my career as a freelance photographer, moving to film after managing a photography studio for three years. Despite not studying filmmaking formally, I’ve crafted a personal style which is most evident in my light-theory. The foundation of my lighting technique is built on my career as a photographer which has given me a deep understanding and appreciation of lighting and its part in setting a scene.
